WWE returns to the New York City area next year for WrestleMania week and it is hard to argue that there’s a celebrity out there more deserving than Cyndi Lauper to get inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. She was one of the main people who helped get WWE mainstream attention during the months leading up to the first WrestleMania in 1985. If that show was not a success then the company could have shut down.
Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” video included Captain Lou Albano and she made several appearances for the then-WWF in 1984 and 1985. She has also been respectful of the wrestling industry whenever she gets asked about her time working alongside the WWF and she made an appearance on WWE Raw’s 1000th episode to pay tribute to Albano.
Sami Zayn just realized that Lauper has yet to be inducted but he is hoping that changed by next year.
Zayn wrote:
“I only today realized that @CyndiLauper is not in the @WWE Hall of Fame celebrity wing.
As part of the “rock n’ wrestling connection” with MTV in the 80’s, she was CRUCIAL to WWE crossing over into mainstream. Arguably no celebrity more deserving.

For some reason, she hasn’t been inducted yet but it doesn’t look like she is the one refusing to go in. Earlier this year she retweeted a fan who said she deserved to go in next year. WrestleMania 35 weekend would be the perfect time to honor her contributions to the wrestling business.
