Sami Zayn recently spoke with FOX Sports to talk about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about his match against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Dallas last year, which marked his final appearance in NXT as he was already on the main roster. He said that it was a pretty special match, and when they were going into the match he thought it would be good but it didn’t really hit him how big it was for Nakamura as it was his first match in NXT.
“I feel like the stars just kind of aligned that night and created something that’s really special. And the way that I know it’s special is that it’s still talked about now. It’s been a year and a half or something, and I still get messages about it almost daily. Something very special occurred that night, and it was really cool. And now to see Shinsuke’s success since then is really interesting. And I’ll get to finally cross paths with him again in the Money In The Bank match. It’s been interesting to watch his trajectory since that night.”
Charlotte Flair, Carmella, Tamina, Becky Lynch, and Natalya will compete in the first-ever Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event this Sunday in St. Louis, MO. When asked about it, he said that it’s a pretty big deal and that every time he thinks that they’ve come as far as they go with the women’s revolution, they step it up as fans would have not seen a match like this a decade or two ago. “So it’s reallycool to see, I’m as curious as any of our fans to see how it goes down.”
Zayn also talked about what advice would he like to go back a year and give himself, ladder matches, and more. You can read the entire interview here.
