Samoa Joe is finally returning to the ring.
During tonight’s WWE NXT TV tapings, there was an angle to set up Samoa Joe challenging Karrion Kross at TakeOver: 36.
During an in-ring segment, Joe told NXT General Manager William Regal that he would be resigning from his position as Regal’s enforcer. Regal was about to fire Kross but then agreed to Joe’s request and the contract was signed.
This angle follows what happened during last night’s live broadcast. At the end of the show, Kross laid out Regal while Joe was in the ring. As Joe ran to the back, Kross drove away.
Joe has not wrestled for WWE since suffering a concussion during a commercial shoot where he took a bad bump through a table. Joe was then used as a color commentator but there was always the intent to have Joe return to the ring. However, Joe was released shortly after WrestleMania and then re-signed to be part of the NXT brand. It’s pretty clear now that is Joe has been medically cleared.
Kross is the NXT Champion and made his Raw debut this week so one would assume that there’s a good chance of Joe winning the title at TakeOver.
