Scary news on Tyson Kidd’s injury

Dave Meltzer provided another update on Tyson Kidd’s injury situation on this morning’s Wrestling Observer radio. For those that don’t know already, Tyson was injured in a dark match a few weeks ago when he wrestled Samoa Joe. It was said to be a freak injury and no one is blaming Samoa Joe for Tyson’s injury. More details have come out on just how serious this injury was.

The way the situation was described to Meltzer, the odds of Tyson Kidd living after sustaining the injury were 20 to 1. The odds of Tyson not being confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life are astronomical. This is not a perfect comparison but Meltzer said that the most well-known situation to compare this to is Christopher Reeves. Christopher Reeves injury (where he would wind up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life) was considered to be a miracle. Reeves was paralyzed in 1995 after a horse riding accident where he fell off a horse and passed away in 2005.

Tyson’s situation is considered to be a miracle. As noted before, he is lucky that he was rushed to the hospital as fast as they did because it was a life or death situation for him.
