Shortly before WWE Monday Night Raw went on the air, a late change was made to the Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar segment that took place during the first hour of the show.
Rollins got the upper hand on Lesnar and looked strong but the original idea was for Lesnar to come out looking strong before WrestleMania 35. Up until Monday, Rollins hasn’t had much of an opportunity to look good against Lesnar.
“That segment was originally written to go the other way. Right before the show started, they switched it,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“It was a Vince call and it was the right call,” Meltzer added. It was a good move because it’s been portrayed like Lesnar will blow by Rollins on Sunday so the segment on Monday may have helped to sway some fans into believing that Rollins has a chance to win.
Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship on Sunday at WrestleMania 35. WWE has the freedom to do whatever they want with the title since it’s expected that Lesnar will remain with the company at least until next month when they go back to Saudi Arabia so there are no guarantees that he will drop the title on Sunday.
