Seth Rollins made an appearance on The WWE After The Bell podcast where he spoke with Corey Graves about a wide range of topics.
The topic of Jim Cornette’s comments about Rollins’ fiance, Becky Lynch, being pregnant was addressed at the beginning of the podcast.
A recent episode of Cornette’s podcast, which you can listen to here, was controversial due to his thoughts about the happy time for the couple. Basically, Cornette stated that Lynch should have waited to get pregnant due to her being a top star in WWE and making good money. He also stated that she’s got years before the “Easy-bake oven gets shut off,” which obviously upset a lot of fans.
Rollins started out by stating that Cornette’s comments hurt his feelings on a personal level due to his respect for Cornette as being a legend in the pro wrestling world. He also brought up how he worked with the legendary manager in Ring of Honor.
“For him to come out and say some real negative things, some real misogynist things about women in general and pregnancy and the industry, it kind of caught me off guard.”
Rollins stated that it made him lose a lot of respect for someone who a lot of people had already kind of lost respect for.
“I was still holding on to hope that somewhere along the line there was a personal connection between Jim and I that he would think twice before making just some egregious comments about women, about my wife. I can’t even forgive them. I don’t even want to repeat them.”
Rollins stated that on a grander scale that type of mindset to say something like that needs to be removed all around.
“It’s just so disgusting. The more I sat in thought about it and talked about it. I knew we had this appearance coming up and we’re going to have this conversation, I wanted to address it because I want to make it very clear that I am so proud of my fiance, of what she’s doing in the courage that it takes for her, at this point in her career, to make a decision.”
Rollins brought up how Lynch is 33 years old and that once women reach 35 years old then there are risks with pregnancies. He praised her for making an incredibly tough decision and announcing it on television. He put her over by stating that he thinks she is the most talented woman that he’s seen in his entire life.
“She’s going to be just fine being pregnant, making money, doing alright. Everything that Jim Cornette said is complete nonsense.”
Rollins added that his thoughts on Cornette’s comments aren’t just for Lynch but for all women and that he thinks everyone is happy for them.
