Seth Rollins appeared on ESPN First Take on Friday morning to promote Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam.
Rollins was asked about Conor McGregor’s comments about the WWE roster. He basically said what he said in his early morning interview from SportsCenter (click here to hear what he said) and that McGregor is just trying to promote himself but he’d welcome him in a WWE ring.
Rollins was asked about Brock Lesnar being accepted back into WWE after failing USADA’s drug test before UFC 200. He said that he has no problem with WWE’s drug testing and he has never failed a test and WWE’s test is not specifically for cracking down on people looking to help performance but to keep wrestlers healthy because the wrestling business has a terrible history of wrestlers dying young.
Stephen A. Smith said that he loved the WWF before it became WWE. He was a fan of guys like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, Magnum TA, The Road Warriors, NWO, etc. Smith asked Rollins what it’s like to fill in the shoes of some of the names he mentioned. Rollins said that it’s an incredible legacy that has been built up between WWE, the NWA and the rest of the territories. He said, “I’m not interested in filling anybody’s shoes. I’m interested in wearing my own shoes.” He said that he hopes to be in the mix with names like Flair and Michaels.
Smith asked if Rollins would be willing to fight Goldberg if he came back. “I would fight Goldberg any day of the week. Bring Goldberg back. I would take him on.” Rollins added, “Goldberg’s past his prime and he can’t hang with me.” Smith also mentioned The Rock and his work in Hollywood. Rollins said that Rock is doing great stuff outside of WWE and he has crossed paths with The Rock in WWE when he put him through a table.
