Seth Rollins’ return on Friday’s WWE SmackDown delayed?, match and segment announced

WWE has announced two new things for Friday’s edition of SmackDown on FOX.

Roman Reigns will make a special request of WWE Management following his big Steel Cage win over Kevin Owens to successfully retain the Universal Title last week. WWE noted in the preview article about the segment, “the specifics of the request have not yet been disclosed. Details to follow.”

Carmella and Bayley vs. Bianca Belair and SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in a tag team match has also been added to the show.

WWE previously announced that new Intercontinental Champion Big E vs. King Baron Corbin in a non-title match will take place on this show, which marks Big E’s first match since winning the title from Sami Zayn.

Big E won it in a Lumberjack Match on last week’s episode of SmackDown, which popped a big rating due to the lead-in from the NFL game on FOX. This will be the first episode of the blue branded show of 2021.

It should be noted that WWE previously advertised Seth Rollins’ return for this show, but it’s not listed in the preview article for this show. Also, WWE has deleted all mentions including tweets promoting his return. It will be interesting to see if Rollins actually returns on this show or if WWE decided to delay it.
