An update has been provided on the status of Seth Rollins after he was seen on crutches backstage at last night’s WWE Evolution event. Rollins is set to undergo medical testing today to determine the severity of his knee injury.
Rollins To Undergo MRI In Alabama
According to a report from PWInsider, the belief within WWE is that they will have a diagnosis on Rollins’ injury within the next few days. During the post-Evolution press conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H confirmed that Rollins will be undergoing an MRI today in Birmingham, Alabama. Despite the injury, Rollins is still expected to be in attendance at Monday Night Raw tonight. The report also notes that there is a lot of fear backstage that it could be a major injury.
A previous report by John Pollock noted that he had heard days before the event that there would be an injury angle at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Meanwhile Bryan Alvarez shared from one source that Rollins may have been injured ahead of the show, and they did the angle to write him off TV.
Injury To A Previously Damaged Knee
This latest injury is particularly concerning as it is to the same right knee that Rollins severely damaged in 2015. That injury, which included tears to his ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus, required surgery and forced him to miss WrestleMania 32. The report also strongly refutes any online speculation that this is a storyline, stating that the injury is legitimate. Rollins sustained the injury this past Saturday while wrestling LA Knight at the Saturday Night’s Main Event special.
With Rollins expected to be at tonight’s Monday Night Raw, the wrestling world will be waiting to see if he or WWE officials will provide a direct update on his condition. The results of today’s MRI will likely determine his status for the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event next month.
