WWE CEO Nick Khan is attempting to get NXT over as a third brand for the company alongside Raw and NXT, something Triple H tried to do before they repackaged the brand as NXT 2.0 and made it a true developmental brand only to change the strategy.
Part of this strategy is using main roster talent on NXT television to boost ratings with the hope of getting more money when the media rights deal is up for the show with the USA Network.
Wrestlers such as AJ Styles, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Johnny Gargano, R-Truth, and others have gone to NXT for this. Last week, Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin came to NXT.
Last week it was revealed that World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins would be the latest star to do this as former NXT Champion Bron Breakker challenged Rollins, the inaugural NXT Champion, to make a return to the brand for a match with him.
WWE hasn’t announced when Reigns is headed to NXT, but insider account Boozer #BWE, which has broken past WWE stories, reported that Rollins has “NXT on Tuesday.”
No other details were given, but Rollins will likely accept Bron’s match challenge, and a date for it will be confirmed. WWE NXT has its Great American Bash PLE set for late July so that could be when it takes place.
