Several wrestling legends were in attendance for Jim Neidhart’s funeral on Friday

It was a sad week as the wrestling world lost Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart on Monday. Several major names from the wrestling business were there to remember their friend at his funeral on Friday.

As you can see below, Chris Jericho, Haku and of course Bret “The Hitman” Hart were there on Friday to honor The Anvil. Stephanie McMahon was also at the funeral and she had to fly back out to New York City for an autograph signing as part of SummerSlam weekend. She almost didn’t make it back to NYC in time because of bad weather and, at one point, it was announced to the fans in NYC that Vince McMahon would take her place if she could not make it back in time. As you could imagine, fans were beyond thrilled to hear that but Stephanie was able to get back in time.

Among the other Legends that attended the funeral were Steve Keirn, Mick Foley, Brian Knobs, and Brian Blair.

Neidhart’s passing was unexpected and shocked everyone including Bret Hart. Elizabeth “Ellie” Neidhart told investigators that her husband was having trouble sleeping so he decided to get up to adjust the thermostat. That is when, as she says, he turned “weirdly” as if he was “about to dance” before falling to the ground. The belief is that he was having a seizure, which is something he was taking medication for. Neidhart had Alzheimer’s disease but the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says that the fall was the cause of death.

If you get a chance, check out the Jim Neidhart collection up on the WWE Network. It includes matches from his early days in the ring with Stampede Wrestling, some great matches as part of the original Hart Foundation, his brief run with Owen Hart as the New Foundation and more.
