WWE NXT Vengeance Day went down on Sunday night from the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, TN, marking the brand’s first PLE of the year.
The show
WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams headlined this show. Top matches include North American Champion Oba Femi vs. Dragon Lee, Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals with Carmelo Hayes & Williams vs. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez.
The Dusty Rhodes Classic opened the show with Corbin and Breakker going over to win the tournament, which has been around for years. They were awarded the Dusty Rhodes Classic Cup trophy, which is modeled after Dusty’s signature cowboy wrestling boots.
The match
Corey Brennan of Fightful Select reported that the rope tightness was questioned after two scary spots in the match involving Breakker and Hayes. It was said all involved in the match came out of it a “little banged up.”
Breakker is expected to be on Monday’s Raw to hear Adam Pearce’s offer to join his brand, while Hayes turned on Williams at the end of Vengeance Day.
