The wrestling took notice of AEW on Saturday night and many people in the wrestling business were privately rooting for Jon Moxley when he appeared at the end of Double Or Nothing.
Some talent, including many in WWE, are looking at their options when their contracts expire and some are hoping to eventually land in AEW.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed Moxley’s interview on Chris Jericho’s podcast and Meltzer noted what has been said before about wrestlers looking at their options. The difference is that he added that there are some shocking names considering leaving the company and that a majority of the people in the company have at least inquired about outside opportunities. Meltzer noted that you could count the people who haven’t on “one to two hands.” When you consider how large WWE’s roster is across Raw, SmackDown and NXT, the number of wrestlers looking at other opportunities is quite large.
Among the wrestlers that we know that are looking elsewhere are Mike and Maria Kanellis, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Sasha Banks and The Revival.
Mike and Maria’s deals are set to expire in a couple of weeks. Gallows and Anderson’s contracts expire in the fall and The Revival ‘s deal expire in the spring of 2020. Banks still has significant time left on her contract but her deal might be frozen until she decides to return to work.
It will be interesting to see who else decides to leave the company when several other contracts expire towards the end of the year.
