Although Drew McIntyre is the first WWE star to confirm that he has recently tested positive for COVID-19, he’s not the only wrestler who has it.
It was previously reported that the latest COVID-19 outbreak has affected all WWE brands – Raw, NXT, and SmackDown. Ringside News reported on Monday night that there is a positive case of COVID-19 on the SmackDown side.
Dave Meltzer talked about the positive COVID-19 cases during the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. From what he knows, there are at least four wrestlers including the WWE Champion who have tested positive.
“So there’s at least four, including Drew McIntyre, WWE wrestlers that I’m aware of that have, or just got over COVID-19 and there may be more. Those are the only names I know and there was one on SmackDown who was scheduled on the show and taken off. There’s one who’s a big star who just returned from COVID, and there’s another one in NXT. There are probably others who will be kept out for contact tracing I’m going to guess.”
Meltzer pointed out how there were several wrestlers working double duty on Monday’s Raw.
“I don’t know anyone else on Raw that’s tested positive, but obviously if you watch the show you can deduct who wasn’t there and there’s a lot of people not there.”
Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez were going back and forth about stars not there including Kofi Kingston, who is dealing with a jaw injury, or in past situations where Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler did not have it, but rather kept off the show for a few weeks last year as a precaution due to them coming near someone who did have the virus.
Meltzer stated, “That could be a lot of people, I only know of three people who do have it right now, but it’s an issue.” The fourth star is McIntyre.
