Aside from Ronda Rousey’s debut, the big news coming out of WrestleMania is what went down in the main event and the finish of the match.
On Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave additional details on what happened with Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon after the match.
“He threw the belt against the wall at Vince McMahon and he was unhappy. The reasons he was unhappy, I don’t know what they were, but he was and Shane McMahon jumped in. I don’t know if he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar, but he acted like he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar. Brock and Heyman left the building. That was it. Nothing happened past that. There were some words exchanged and it was a scene. Now as far as Shane goes … the words and the belt throw, for all we know this could all be a work. Nobody really knows. The people who were there did not think it was a work but they also know they were all worked on the finish. Literally, nobody backstage knew that he was gonna win”
They did everything to keep the secret a finish and even the referee was in the dark until the match was in progress. Meltzer said, “The referee was told during the match that ‘count to three’ when it happens.”
It’s unclear what is next for Lesnar and the Universal Championship but he has signed a short-term deal and he is scheduled to defend the title against Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia so that could be when the title change occurs. Click here for more backstage news on Lesnar-Reigns from WrestleMania.
