Shawn Chan, Alleged Stalker Of Liv Morgan, Seeks Release From Jail Ahead Of November Trial

New details have emerged in the criminal case against Shawn Chan, the Canadian man charged with one count of interstate domestic violence against WWE star Liv Morgan. According to a report from PWInsider, recent court filings have revealed the contents of a note Chan allegedly left at Morgan’s property, and have detailed his recent legal maneuvers as he awaits trial.

The criminal complaint against Chan outlines the events leading to his arrest. Chan flew from Scarborough, Ontario, to Orlando, Florida, on May 26. Upon arrival, he informed customs agents that his destination was the WWE Performance Center, a facility that does not have any public housing.

Four days later, on May 30, Chan traveled several hours to Liv Morgan’s private residence. According to the complaint, he circled her property multiple times before entering her backyard. He then went to the front of the house and was unsuccessful in an attempt to gain entry through her front door.

After failing to get inside, Chan found an air pellet on the front porch, which he held while waiting for several hours. Before departing the property, he left a note.

The contents of the note, detailed in the criminal complaint, read in part: “It’s me Shawn the guy you all hang out with on [gaming platform deleted] online. You’ve been trying to contact me, or should I say reach out to me when I’m absent from that game. So who’s the stalker huh?! I NEVER said and did anything bad for over 10 years, yet you all dared hating me for no reason. I came here to pay just a friendly visit, nothing more.”

Chan was arrested by the FBI on June 3 after WWE security personnel were shown security footage from Morgan’s home. They recognized Chan and immediately alerted the authorities, leading to his arrest. He was indicted on June 25 and faces up to five years imprisonment if convicted.

Recent court filings show that Chan has signed a Waiver of Speedy Trial. According to the records, the purpose of the waiver is to “allow adequate time to conduct a psychiatric evaluation of the defendant.” Chan’s trial is currently expected to begin in November.

As of this writing, Chan remains incarcerated in Hernando County, Florida. On August 20, his attorneys filed a motion asking the court to reconsider holding him without bail for the duration of the trial. The filing stated that a location at a Salvation Army has been secured where Chan could reside if released. The court has not yet issued a ruling on this request.
