WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels recently spoke with ESPN to promote his new movie, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone. During the interview, he was asked about possibly wrestling again. Michaels said that there are two guys who make the decisions in WWE and that’s Vince McMahon, and Triple H. He noted that in seven years he has never been approached about wrestling again. Michaels retired in 2010 after wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26. He said that McMahon and Triple H understand why and respect why he retired.
When asked who he would like to wrestle if he did come back, “I look at Samoa Joe, and I’ve told him a number of times that I see his stuff at NXT and think to myself, ‘Man, I could have a great deal of fun with you.’ He’s a guy I have sort of enjoyed, and one of those sleeper guys that no one talks about.” He said that they have contrasting styles. Michaels pointed out that he gets that the fans want to see him wrestle Styles or Seth Rollins or Dolph Ziggler. However, he thinks that telling a great story in the ring is the most important thing in pro wrestling. He thinks he could tell a good story with Samoa Joe.
Michaels also discussed AJ Styles and more. You can read the full interview here.
