Sheamus: I’m always skeptical about champions who just pop up once in a blue moon

Former WWE Champion Sheamus did a recent interview with Digital Spy where he spoke about a wide range of topics.

During the interview, he made his feelings known about part-time wrestlers being the top champions in the company.

WWE Universal Champion Goldberg is scheduled to defend his title against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 36. On the flip side, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will defend the title against Drew McIntyre.

Should WrestleMania 36 take place as scheduled next month, which is a big if considering the coronavirus, this will only be Goldberg’s second match since SummerSlam last August.

Sheamus noted that Lesnar’s match with McIntyre is the one he’s most excited about at the event.

“I’m always skeptical about champions who just pop up once in a blue moon, like once every six months, or once every year. I think it’s important to have your champion on every week, that’s how I grew up watching WWE, that’s how I see it.”

“There’s a lot of mixed reactions about Goldberg and Roman at Mania,” he added. “But honestly the match I’m really looking forward to is Brock (Lesnar) and Drew (McIntyre). I’m really feeling the Brock and Drew match.”

Sheamus also talked about being in a tag team with Cesaro and the possibility of wrestling Daniel Bryan for another time at WrestleMania. You can read the entire interview here.
