Shinsuke Nakamura, the headliner for this weekend’s shows in Tokyo, Japan was not able to compete at the show that took place on Friday.
As many of you know by now, he was bitten by a police dog prior to the live event on Monday in Bakersfield, CA. That incident led to WWE canceling the United States Championship match between Nakamura and Jeff Hardy that was scheduled on Tuesday for Smackdown Live.
Nakamura did appear in a non-wrestling capacity but he was on crutches. As you can see in the photos below, he did an in-ring promo for the fans. Samoa Joe took his place as AJ Styles’ opponent.
The injury is not expected to keep him out of action for an extended period of time and the belief is that he should be ok for Extreme Rules. It will be interesting to see if WWE decides to take legal action on the Bakersfield Police Department because the tickets were sold out in advance primarily because of Nakamura and they had to switch up the main event. Also, this injury could keep him off a few domestic live events.
