We are sad to learn about the passing of Sid Eudy, known to fans as former WWE Champion Sid Justice and in WCW as Sid Vicious. He was 63 years old.
Sid’s son Gunner noted on Facebook that his father was battling cancer for several years. Sid was mostly out of the wrestling spotlight in recent years but he did some appearances in recent weeks.
Eudy got his start in the wrestling business in the mid-80s after a chance encounter with Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo that led to him getting trained by Tojo Yamamoto. He wrestled in Memphis as the masked Lord Humongous before moving on to the National Wrestling Alliance in 1989 as Sid Vicious as part of The Skyscrapers tag team with Dan Spivey.
After leaving the NWA, he used the Sid Justice monicker and was immediately positioned as a top babyface and then turned on Hulk Hogan in early 1992 to set up a WrestleMania feud. Sid went back and forth between WWE and WCW throughout the 90’s. He wasn’t known for his in-ring work but he was known to give very intense promos and that along with his look and size gave him a star quality that many promoters were looking for.
On behalf of everyone here at WrestlingNews.co, we send our deepest condolences to the Eudy family.
