There was a shockingly high number of head injuries last weekend in WWE.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that six wrestlers were knocked out during Royal Rumble weekend on two different shows.
On the Worlds Collide show from the night before the Rumble, Roderick Strong and Imperium’s Marcel Barthel and Alexander Wolfe were knocked out at some point during their match. As many of you noticed during the Imperium vs. Undisputed Era match, Wolfe was taken out of the match early when he was knocked out.
On Raw, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe and Riddick Moss suffered knockout blows during matches. It was clear that something was off about the Mysterio vs. MVP match so that explains what went wrong. Joe suffered a head injury due to a dive through the ropes and he was immediately pulled out of his match. Moss did not wrestle on Raw but he did wrestle Cedric Alexander before Raw for the Main Event tapings so that might be where he suffered a head blow. Moss made his Raw debut later that night as he’s being aligned with Mojo Rawley.
There is no word on the return timetable for the names listed above. Concussions can take days, weeks and even months to recover from so everyone’s situation will be different.
