For the last several months, fans have been following along the highly praised Bloodline storyline that led to Sami Zayn being accepted by the faction only to turn on Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble when he refused to further attack his good friend Kevin Owens and hit Reigns in the back with a chair.
This led to Reigns retaining the Undisputed WWE Universal title over Zayn at the Elimination Chamber PLE, only for Owens to reunite with Zayn. At WrestleMania 39, Zayn and Owens beat The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Titles. The following night, Reigns shockingly retained his title over Cody Rhodes in the main event.
WWE has confirmed that Jey Uso will square off with Zayn in a singles match on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
The WRKD Wrestling Twitter account notes that while anything can change, Reigns is not slated to appear on tonight’s SmackDown, but WWE will further the tension between Paul Heyman and Jey again.
“Please keep in mind that things are currently volatile and things can change on a whim: Currently, Roman Reigns is not scheduled for #Smackdown tomorrow night, but there is slated to be a segment that leads to further tension between Paul Heyman and Jey Uso.”
Also confirmed for SmackDown includes an appearance by SmackDown Women’s Champ Rhea Ripley, Triple H addressing the fans, Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Dominik Mysterio & Damian Priest, and Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci) vs. The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland & Butch).
