Some People In AEW Think Chris Jericho Will Return To WWE

The future of Chris Jericho remains one of the biggest stories in wrestling. A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided more details on his status amid WWE return rumors.

Jericho’s AEW contract expires at the end of this year. Dave Meltzer reports that there is a belief within WWE that he is “inevitably” going to return to the company, possibly as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. While WWE sources have confirmed they “expect him,” Meltzer notes that this could be a negotiating tactic from Jericho’s side.

It was noted that “There are those in AEW who believe that he’s not going to be back and will start in WWE as a Royal Rumble surprise.” He has been absent from AEW television since April.

The speculation about a potential return to WWE was ignited when Jericho “liked” a post on Instagram about Jericho being open to a WWE return and asking whether he should go back. The full report can be found in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
