There are questions on if WWE can put on a full card if they go through with plans to hold WrestleMania at the Performance Center on April 5th.
Dave Meltzer pointed out that they only did one match this week on Raw and it was kept short because WWE officials realized that a show full of matches in an empty arena does not come across well on television.
“They felt from the SmackDown show that this empty arena match stuff doesn’t work,” Meltzer said.
“They had 16 matches lined up. I don’t know if they will even do 16 matches at this point. There may not even be a WrestleMania on April 5th either. They announced that but [if] one guy on that roster getting the virus or one major celebrity getting in in Florida or an outbreak in Florida, then it’s not happening.”
On a related note, there is a rumor from @fightoracle about WrestleMania being moved again. Click here for more on the story.
Meltzer noted that the plan for the Women’s Tag Team Championship was a three-way with The Kabuki Warriors defending against Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross and Natalya & Beth Phoenix. However, on Raw there was no indication of Phoenix and Natalya being added to the match.
Meltzer said, “the match was a three-way last week…we don’t know now.” He continued, “Aside from the stuff that is already announced, everything else is up in the air, whether they’ll have the match…There are many suggestions going around but nothing is official. You would think it would be [official at] this late a date and it’s not. I know they had the complete card on February 17th and now they don’t.”
There are a few extra things WWE should be worried about. There are two battle royals scheduled for the show. The Andre The Giant Memorial and Women’s WrestleMania battle royal matches are meant to get everyone on the card. It would not be wise for WWE to put on those matches since it requires around 20 wrestlers to start in the ring at the same time. There are also questions about Roman Reigns, who has a compromised immune system from leukemia.
