SPOILER: Backstage news on long-term plans for Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair feud

As many of you saw on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Bayley became the new number 1 contender for Charlotte Flair’s Raw Women’s Championship. Bayley defeated Nia Jax.

The plan is for Bayley to eventually win the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania but she will have a lot of hurdles to jump over before she gets the title. The idea for her storyline with Charlotte Flair is for her to keep getting screwed over so that she gains more sympathy from fans. They are basically copying the idea from the Daniel Bryan storyline that ultimately led to him winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXX. The only difference is that when Bryan was first getting over with the fans, the original idea was not to put the title on him but they eventually put the title on him when CM Punk left the company and because the fan support for Bryan was overwhelming. Bryan’s 18-second loss to Sheamus at WrestleMania 28 was supposed to help get Sheamus over but things worked out a lot differently than planned.

So, this all means that Flair will likely retain her title at the Royal Rumble. That doesn’t necessarily mean that she has to win the match (she can lose by count out or DQ and still retain), but the match with further the storyline.
