As previously noted, there are plans to introduce a new title during WrestleMania weekend. William Regal announced during Wednesday night’s NXT TV tapings that a new North American Champion will be crowned at Takeover: New Orleans.
Former Impact Wrestling Champion EC3 appeared on the stage and then he said that it was nice of Regal to create a title just to give to him. Regal stopped him and said that the title will not be given away but EC3 will be given the opportunity to compete for it.
At Takeover: New Orleans, EC3, and 5 other competitors will compete in a ladder match to crown the new champion. Although EC3 was introduced in the crowd at Takeover: Philadelphia, this is basically considered his official NXT debut (well, as EC3). He had wrestled in NXT years ago as Derrick Bateman.
