As noted on Monday, Mickie James is expected to appear at tonight’s Smackdown Live. Fans at the FedEx Forum in Memphis spotted her a couple of hours ago so she is backstage. Several weeks ago, Dave Meltzer reported that she was being brought back for the Smackdown Live brand. James was signed to a deal after her match with Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto and she underwent the required physical last month in Pittsburgh.
James last full-time gig with WWE ended in 2010. She later worked for TNA and she continued to work on independent shows, including Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling, through the end of 2016.
It would make sense to have her get involved in the Alexa Bliss/Becky Lynch steel cage match at tonight’s Smackdown Live. I guess we’ll get answers tonight. If that happens then it would seem to me that James would be the person revealed as La Luchadora. I should note that James was not the person under the mask during the past few weeks. The angle is basically a takeoff on the Black Scorpion angle from the early 90’s. WCW had different people under the mask but ultimately it was Ric Flair that was revealed to be the Black Scorpion.
