SPOILER: Plans for the Universal Championship match at WWE Hell in a Cell PPV

At the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio. Dave Meltzer confirmed the news this afternoon.

The match was set up this past Friday on SmackDown when Reigns interfered in the SmackDown Tag Team Title match between the Mysterio’s and The Uso’s. Reigns attacked Rey and Dominik in order to prevent them from getting another win over Jimmy and Jey.

Over the last few weeks, Reigns and Jey have been trying to convince Jimmy to join their stable but Jimmy has been reluctant to do so thus far. WrestlingNews.co first reported a few weeks ago that the plan is for Jimmy and Jey to get on the same page and they will eventually win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. We are told that this is still the plan.

Reigns vs. Mysterio has yet to be officially announced by WWE. Here is the updated card with the Universal Title match included:

WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (Champion) vs. Rey Mysterio

WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley (Champion) vs. Drew McIntyre

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (Champion) vs. Bayley

WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Rhea Ripley (Champion) vs. Charlotte Flair

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
AJ Styles and Omos (Champions) vs. winner of Tag Team Battle Royal on Raw

WWE Hell in a Cell will take place on Sunday, June 20 and it will be the last pay-per-view at the ThunderDome in Tampa, FL.
