Impact Wrestling held a set of TV tapings on Friday night and during it, the inductee for this year’s Hall Of Fame was revealed.
It happened while taping the upcoming Knockouts Knockdown event. Impact announced Awesome Kong would be inducted. She dedicated her induction speech to Daffney, who just passed away after a battle with mental health issues.
While with the promotion, she was a two-time Knockouts Champion and held the Knockouts Tag Team Championship with Hamada. She also won the Gauntlet for the Gold in 2016.
Kong was a top and dominant star for the promotion from 2007-2010. She had a notable rivalry with Gail Kim that helped further women’s wrestling into what it is today.
She returned in 2015 after a stint in WWE, but only stayed for a year. Kong announced retirement from wrestling at NWA EmPowerrr.
