Two days of television tapings were capped off by the crowning of the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion. Rhea Ripley is the new and first-ever champion and it happened at Insomnia, the UK’s biggest gaming festival at NEC Birmingham.
Other names that competed for the title include Toni Storm, Jinny Isla Dawn, Millie McKenzie, Nina Samuels, Dakota Kai and Xia Brookside, the daughter of WWE Performance Center Coach Robbie Brookside.
According to fan reports, the referee threw up the “X” sign after the match so it’s possible that her opponent, Toni Storm, may have suffered an injury. We’ll post an update when we get it.
The match will air sometime in the near future when weekly NXT UK TV series starts.
Let me clear up the confusion. There was no ref stoppage. The match ended rather abruptly THEN the ref threw up the X.
