This week on Monday Night Raw, The Authors Of Pain defeated Titus Worldwide (Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews). It might have seemed like a throwaway but they are planting the seeds for a split between Crews and O’Neil.
People in WWE have been high on Crews and he may finally get his chance to shine as a singles star. The plan is for Crews to break away as a singles star with Dana Brooke as his manager.
I am not sure what they have planned for O’Neil but the feeling is that the tag team has run its course and there is more that Crews can do as a singles star. At 30 years of age, he has plenty of good years left in the ring so the split could be a good thing for him.
Crews has been wrestling since 2009 and was signed to a contract on the NXT brand in 2014. He was brought up to the main roster in 2016 but he has been stuck in first gear.
Titus O’Neil, 41, does a lot of community work and has been a great ambassador for the company. The crowded roster could mean that it’s time to phase him out into a role similar to Mark Henry.
