WWE kicks off the SmackDown World Cup tournament tonight after being announced last Friday on SmackDown.
The tournament matches haven’t been announced yet. However, the competitors have been revealed. According to PWinsider.com, here are the planned stars for the tournament:
Braun Strowman
Shinsuke Nakamura
Sami Zayn
Santos Escobar
Rey Mysterio
Jinder Mahal
Butch
Ricochet
The tournament winner will receive a future Intercontinental title shot against current champion Gunther, although a date for the bout has yet to be confirmed. FOX Sports will be airing the World Cup soccer tournament this winter.
Already confirmed for SmackDown includes the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston), Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Santos Escobar, and Liv Morgan vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Shotzi vs. Sonya Deville vs. Lacey Evans vs. Xia Li in a six-pack challenge number one contender’s match.
