The next big NXT show is Takeover: Brooklyn III on 8/19 at the Barclays Center. We’ve tagged this post as a spoiler because some storylines have yet to play out on TV.
Based on the creative direction, this is what the card is looking like for that show:
NXT Championship
Bobby Roode (Champion) vs. Drew McIntyre
NXT Women’s Championship
Asuka (Champion) vs. Ember Moon
NXT Tag Team Championship
Authors Of Pain (Champions) vs. SAnitY
Hideo Itami vs. Kassius Ohno
Also, Johnny Gargano has vowed to be at the show. There’s no word on if he is wrestling. Typically, these Takeover shows consist of 5 matches. I hope they add a Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne rematch for the UK Championship to the show.
They’ve been grooming Ember Moon to defeat Asuka but Moon has not really caught on so it would be interesting to see how the crowd reacts if she is booked to win the title.
McIntyre looks to be the next top babyface of the brand but if I was booking him, I’d have him lose at Takeover: Brooklyn III and then win the title at the Takeover in New Orleans on the night before WrestleMania and then move Roode up to the main roster.
It also looks like they are building towards a match between No Way Jose and Andrade Cien Almas but they could always tape that before the live broadcast if there’s no room on the main card.
