Status update on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

When Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home in the middle of the European Tour things were uncertain at the time. There were numerous reports which turned out not to be true concerning things Kevin and Sami said as well as things they did or didn’t do. But it was noted how the situation was in Vince McMahon’s hands and seeing how he almost fired and ultimately suspended Titus O’Neil for touching him after the Daniel Bryan retirement speech, people were plenty worried Owens and Zayn would suffer a similar fate.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are booked to return to SmackDown Live next week. They were booked in a match with The New Day which is still being advertised. Therefore it looks like that’s still going to happen.

However, it might be interesting to see how this match plays out because Sami and Kevin were supposed to “feed” The New Day during that segment on SmackDown Live but instead, they powdered out and switched things up.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Live that they played it off very well because there wasn’t a moment of confusion between the performers as there usually is when someone flips the script and goes into business for themselves like this.

Of course, let’s be fair to the entire situation and let it be known that we might never know the entire story about what happened until either Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, or Vince McMahon tells us what really happened. But Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that Vince McMahon was said to be furious backstage at the time of the incident. Therefore I wouldn’t be surprised if Owens and Zayn took a few lumps for this one.

Next week is the go-home SmackDown Live for Survivor Series and it’s only a matter of time before we’ll know how Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will be used in the big-four PPV event. Kevin Owens has developed quite a consistent streak of pay-per-view appearances, therefore, it would suck for him to miss out on performing in a big event especially considering the amazing main event of Hell In A Cell we just witnessed that he won.

Only time will tell though. But for now, it looks like fans can expect The Prizefighter and The Underdog From The Underground back on television next week.
