A steel cage match was in the plans for the Intercontinental title match between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler but those plans could change, according to the Wrestling Observer newsletter. I can add that there was a steel cage backstage at Smackdown this past week but they decided not to use it. My guess is that they were going to announce the steel cage match stipulation but they decided to hold off on it so it’s possible that they’ve already changed their mind on that. Also, Hell in a Cell takes place during that same month so, perhaps, they will scrap the cage match idea because it’s too close to the HIAC PPV that takes place just three weeks later.
As of this writing, the Intercontinental title match is yet to be announced but it’s pretty obvious that they are going to do that rematch at No Mercy. The storyline going into that match is that Maryse can not get involved in the match.
So far, the only matches announced are the World title match with AJ Styles defending against Dean Ambrose and John Cena in a Triple Threat match and the Smackdown Women’s Championship match featuring Becky Lynch defending against Alexa Bliss.
It also looks like they are going to add Rhyno and Heath Slater against The Usos and Baron Corbin vs. Jack Swagger. Corbin cut a promo on Swagger during Talking Smack.
