WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon was recently interviewed by ESPN to talk about several professional wrestling topics.
One such topic was the potential return of former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. Rousey hasn’t been seen in WWE since her loss at WrestleMania 35 last year, where she dropped the RAW Women’s Title to Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat match involving Charlotte Flair. It was the first-ever women’s match to headline a WrestleMania.
Since the loss, Rousey has been focusing on starting a family with her husband, UFC heavyweight Travis Browne. McMahon noted that she hopes Rousey returns, and based on their last conversation, “The Rowdy One” is excited to get back.
“In all seriousness, I hope so,” McMahon said. “I know that she’s very excited about coming back. I think she has some things in her personal life that she wants to do. When the time is right, she’ll be back. I have no doubt about that.”
McMahon noted that she hopes Rousey is back in time for next year’s WrestleMania from Los Angeles. However, she won’t be the one stepping inside the ring with her, given how that worked out last time.
“In all seriousness, I hope so,” McMahon said. “I know that she’s very excited about coming back. I think she has some things in her personal life that she wants to do. When the time is right, she’ll be back. I have no doubt about that.”
