There has been a lot of talk about Stone Cold Steve Austin returning for another match at WWE WrestleMania 39 and it looks like he might be getting ready for at least one more match (scroll down for the video).
After WrestleMania 38, Austin said that he would return for another Mania if he got the call but he ruled out wrestling again. It appears that he's had a change of heart because there are multiple reports stating that another match is on the table and the belief among people in WWE is that he's open to it.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is smoke to the fire behind the rumors and "something is in the discussion phase."
When asking a WWE source about the potential of CM Punk coming back to face Austin, Meltzer wrote that "it appears from a creative team standpoint it’s not positive because most of them follow what happened in AEW. However, they also recognize this is going to be a Levesque/McMahon/Nick Khan call and even with some negative things said and interactions, if you are just talking business, it is something bigger than anything else they could create."
If Punk returns for that match then it could be perceived as vindication for the issues of the past and Punk has wanted that match. The match was sort of teased when Punk and Austin did a sit-down interview with Jim Ross over a decade ago to promote a WWE video game.
It appears that nothing is locked in with Austin but as seen in the video below, it looks like he's getting ready to take bumps again.
