WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin, a big-time mixed martial arts (MMA) fan, was definitely tuned in for UFC 229 last night. “The Texas Rattlesnake” watched as Conor McGregor made his UFC return against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title.
Unfortunately for the Irishman, his return didn’t go as planned. McGregor was submitted by Khabib in the fourth-round via rear-naked choke/neck crank. After the fight, all the animosity from McGregor’s pre-fight shenanigans finally set Khabib off. He jumped the cage and went after one of McGregor’s teammates.
A huge brawl broke out between them in the crowd and security had to scramble to get things under control. Not only that, but Khabib’s team then stormed the Octagon and attacked McGregor, creating a huge brawl inside the Octagon as well. The entire ordeal really looked like something out of a WWE storyline, however, this wasn’t scripted.
Austin took to Twitter and cracked a joke about how the brawl mimicked that of professional wrestling:
I love Professional Wrestling.
