Steve Austin on WWE’s booking of Kevin Owens: “don’t put the brakes on him”

WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin has shared some booking advice to WWE for Kevin Owens, who has been compared to the legendary pro wrestler with his new character on television.

WWE has been booking Owens similar to Austin from back in the Attitude Era as of late as part of his ongoing storyline with Shane McMahon.

Austin recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to talk about Owens and the way that WWE has been booking him.

“With Kevin Owens, don’t throw my name on there,” said Austin. “This guy can talk a lot of trash, he is great in the ring, and he’s using my finisher, but hell, no one is going to be the next Steve Austin.”

Owens has been using Austin’s finisher, the Stunner, as well, which Austin endorses. The former WWE Champion would later add that WWE needs to let Owens be himself.

“So just let Kevin be Kevin, put him in good situations and don’t put the brakes on him. If you’re going to run with this guy, then let him be the biggest, baddest, best Kevin Owens he can be.”
