AJ Styles Says Danhausen Is ‘Filling The Need’ In WWE, Defends His Place In The Product

AJ Styles has come out in support of Danhausen following his Backlash appearance, arguing that the Very Nice, Very Evil one is providing something the WWE product genuinely needs.

Speaking on the latest episode of his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles offered his assessment of Danhausen’s WWE run to date and pushed back against those who question his place on the roster.

“He’s doing a great job, and this is what we need. A lot of people don’t understand it. We need a little bit of everything. We want to make sure you get the entertainment from wrestling, but also we want to make you laugh, too, and we got the storylines. We want to give you a little bit of everything. Danhausen is definitely filling the need,” Styles said.

Danhausen debuted at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 28 to a mixed reaction before steadily winning over audiences in the weeks that followed. He finished as a top-three merchandise seller at WrestleMania 42 weekend and scored his first PLE victory at Backlash on Saturday, teaming with Minihausen to defeat The Miz and Kit Wilson. Minihausen was portrayed by Mascarita Sagrada of AAA, previously known to WWE audiences as El Torito.

Styles retired from in-ring competition at the Royal Rumble on January 31 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before transitioning to a talent scout role with the company, where he focuses on identifying and developing the next generation of WWE performers.
