PWInsider is reporting that Melina has been spotted in St. Louis ahead of her surprise entry into the Women’s WWE Royal Rumble match on Sunday. It was first reported earlier this month that Melina was scheduled to be part of the Rumble match as a surprise. Click here for news on another surprise entrant.
In September of 2020, it was reported that Melina was on her way back to WWE in a full-time role on the main roster. There were also reports that she would return as part of the NXT brand and Melina had been open about being part of Robert Stone’s Brand. The plans to bring her back fell through reportedly because she was dealing with an injury.
There was also talk of her entering the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble but a deal was not reached because she was under a contract with the NWA.
Melina made her WWE main roster debut in 2004 as part of the MNM group. During her time in the company, she became a 2-time Divas Champion and a 3-time Women’s Champion. After her exit from the company in 2011, she went back to the independent scene and then joined the NWA in 2019. She made her Impact Wrestling debut last August.
She appeared at the Raw Reunion show in 2019 but the Royal Rumble would be her first time in a WWE ring since 2011.
