Ted DiBiase said Sensational Sherri was “tough as nails” and that there were men in the wrestling business she could have beaten up, speaking on Everybody’s Got a Pod while discussing his WrestleMania VII program.
“Sherri was delightful. I thought she played her part as that manager very well. Thought she did a hell of a job,” DiBiase said. “Here’s the other thing that I told a lot of new guys that would come into the business. They’d ask, ‘What about Sherri Martel?’ I said, ‘You just don’t want to get on the wrong side. She’s tough as nails. And I think there’s a few guys in this business who she could just beat the sh*t out of.'”
DiBiase said Sherri was one of the most likable people he worked with. “Likable? Oh my gosh, yeah, she was likable,” he said.
Co-host Marcus D’Angelo called Sherri “an irreplaceable talent” and said he has never heard anybody say anything but kind words about her and her abilities.
DiBiase recalled traveling with Sherri overseas during their time together. “She managed me for a while. I think she was my manager, and we were overseas somewhere, I can’t remember,” DiBiase said. D’Angelo referenced a well-known photo of the two walking the streets of Dublin, Ireland together. “Yeah, I think so,” DiBiase confirmed.
D’Angelo noted that DiBiase had previously said he sometimes had to dial Sherri back because she wanted to get heavily involved in his matches. DiBiase acknowledged that was true but said her talent justified her eagerness. “The flip side of that is she had the talent to do it,” DiBiase said.
When asked why Vince McMahon paired him with Sherri given that DiBiase was already one of the best talkers in the company, DiBiase said he had no explanation. “I have no idea,” DiBiase said. “I know I didn’t need her to talk for me.”
