Amidst a firestorm of social media controversy involving Ric Flair, Dutch Mantell, and Jim Ross, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has taken a firm stance: he wants no part of the drama. Speaking on his “Road Trip After Hours” podcast, Long addressed Flair’s recent pointed tweets, stating he is focused on enjoying his life and career rather than engaging in public negativity.
Host Mac Davis detailed the situation for Long, including Flair calling Jim Ross “attention seeking” for a cancer update, Dutch Mantell’s harsh response calling Flair a “dick,” and Flair’s subsequent tweets telling his “haters” to “Go f yourself” while boasting about his wealth. When asked for his reaction, Long was unequivocal.
“Nothing surprises me. This is professional wrestling, man. Okay, so nothing surprises me,” Long began. “The thing that I try to do is I try to stay away from all this drama, because I don’t have time for it. You know, God has blessed me. I’m still alive. I’m still getting out doing, you know, seeing the fans, and doing my thing, you know, and enjoying myself. So I ain’t got time for all that negativity.”
Long reflected on his own past and how he has moved forward: “I know what happened to me, and I know about all that, but all this in the past, I survived all that. I made it in the world of professional wrestling. I am now a brand. I made a name for myself,” he explained. “So I don’t have to, I don’t have to suck up to nobody. I am my own boss now.”
A viewer, Pretty Classy Lady, brought up a past shoot interview where Long had discussed his own negative experiences with Ric Flair. Long acknowledged this but stood by his current position of moving on. “Oh, yeah, that’s like, I said all that that’s out. That’s in the past. People know… All I know is I told the truth, and that’s the simple thing… anytime I say something about somebody, believe me, it is the truth. Because I’m not going to sit out here and tell a lie.” He concluded, “But I’m trying to stay away from all this negativity and just in trying to enjoy my life, and that’s what I’m going to do. So what these guys are saying, all of them, you know, talking about each other and this and that. Stay away from me. I ain’t got time for you.”
