On the latest episode of the Sportskeeda WrestleBinge podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long opened up about his personal life, sharing the story of how he reconnected with his partner, Denise, four decades after they first met. The news comes after several years of personal tragedy for Long, who lost his wife of 40 years, Tasha, in 2022, and more recently, his son Antione in July of this year.
The conversation began with Long mentioning he was visiting Denise for the weekend. This prompted his co-hosts, Mac Davis and Bill Apter, to begin teasing him about the seriousness of the relationship, with Davis predicting that “about another year we’re going to hear wedding bells.”
This led Long to share the full, emotional backstory of their relationship. “Denise and I are God meant to be because I met Denise 40 years ago, then we separated and but she would always stay in touch with me,” Long explained. “But we finally got back together after 40 some years.”
He was quick to clarify the circumstances of their reunion, emphasizing that it came after both had experienced profound loss. “And we didn’t do it wrong. We didn’t cheat or nothing,” he stated. “She was married. I was married. My wife died. So what happened? Her husband died. So that’s how it all happened.”
The story drew supportive and heartfelt reactions from his co-hosts. “She is one of the sweetest ladies. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to her a couple of times on the phone. And such a sweet, she’s a sweet southern lady,” Davis said of Denise. Apter then joined in the wedding talk, joking, “I want to make sure that Mac is on your left side, I am on your right side, and we will strut you up the aisle, Teddy Long.”
The full conversation, where the panel also discusses potential Hall of Fame inductees and other wrestling news, is available on the Sportskeeda WrestleBinge podcast.
