WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long provided a direct update on R-Truth’s mindset following his surprise WWE release, revealing that he has spoken with the beloved superstar and that R-Truth is “happy with it.” On his “Road Trip After Hours” podcast, Long suggested this could be the “best thing to ever happen to him” and advised fans there was no need to argue about the decision.
After host Mac Davis read R-Truth’s heartfelt goodbye statement to the fans, Long shared insights from his personal conversation. “I talked to Truth, and he’s happy with it,” Long stated definitively. “I saw his statement that he made after the release. So you know, it’s like this with me. If Truth is happy, I love it. So ain’t no going back and forth about this release, because talking back and forth or making an argument out of it that don’t get that ain’t bringing them back… everybody, if you got any, any sense at all, you know, you can see what is going on.”
Long believes R-Truth is now “free” and that this new chapter could be incredibly positive. “Do you know what this may — God does things for a reason? This may be the best thing to ever happen to him,” Long mused. He compared it to his own past situation: “What John Laurinaitis did to me was the best thing that could have happened to me.”
Mac Davis agreed, stating, “We might see the R-Truth that we have never got to see where he’s allowed to be him.” Teddy also offered a creative suggestion for R-Truth’s next steps, “He needs to sit down and… have a conversation with Little Jimmy. And Little Jimmy needs to kind of help bring our truth back to light… let Little Jimmy guide our truth back into the spotlight.”
While Mac Davis still wondered if there was a chance for Truth to return to WWE given no official “best in your future endeavors” statement, Long dismissed the idea, implying the decision is final.
