Best wishes are out to former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall Of Famer Terry Funk as he is currently in an assisted living facility for people who are suffering from dementia.
Don Muraco shared the news during the latest episode of his podcast, Don Muraco’s Magnificent Podcast, when he noted that he spoke with Scott Casey over the weekend and was informed about Funk.
“Speaking of Japan, I heard that Terry Funk is in a home and disabled for dementia. Yeah, I spoke with Scott Casey over the weekend and I guess he’s all the way down in Amarillo, Texas. So I don’t know. I know his wife passed away two or three years ago. I don’t know who he’s with or what’s going on.”
Funk battled COVID-19 earlier this year and believed that he got it after attending church, but recovered from it. He hasn’t worked a match since 2017 and started to reduce the number of public appearances in recent years due to health issues.
Funk is considered by fans to be one of the greatest names in the history of professional wrestling. He’s also been a mentor to many wrestlers including Tommy Dreamer and Mick Foley.
