“This is the culmination of a lifetime’s worth of work,” Beefcake told SI.com. “I’m grateful to the WWE, and I cannot wait for the tremendous honor.”
Beefcake was one of the most popular wrestlers in the 1980s until his career was sidelined in 1990 due to a parasailing accident. He returned to the company in a non-physical role as the host of an interview segment called “The Barber Shop” in 1991.
His last match with the company was at WrestleMania IX where he teamed with Hulk Hogan against Money, Inc. Beefcake eventually jumped to WCW with Hogan where he would portray different characters including The Butcher, The Zodiac, The Booty Man and The Disciple.
Beefcake will be inducted this year alongside The Honky Tonk Man, Torrie Wilson, D-X, The original Hart Foundation and Warrior Award recipient Sue Aitchison. The WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony will air this Saturday night on the WWE Network.
