The future looks grim for WWE 205 Live

Last week, when the decision was made to pull WWE 205 Live, sources in WWE insisted that it was just a one-time thing and the show would be back next week.

The latest news on the future of the show does sound too good. WWE Network News is reporting that 205 Live is currently not listed on the schedule for this coming Friday night. WWE has not confirmed the cancellation of the show but there are signs pointing in that direction.

The Cruiserweight Championship was recently renamed to the NXT Cruiserweight Championship and Drew Gulak will defend against Lio Rush this week on NXT instead of 205 Live.

Another thing that points to the demise of the show is that there have been talks about adding a third hour of WWE programming on Fox Sports 1 after Friday Night SmackDown. That would mean 205 Live would have been bumped from the 10 pm timeslot.

WWE sources tell us that 205 Live is one of the least-watched original shows on the WWE Network and there are no plans to run standalone events after they tried to run some shows last year in the northeast. There are plans to bring the 205 Live wrestlers into NXT with some guys being featured on weekly NXT TV in the United States and other being used for NXT UK.

Again, the cancellation of the show has not been confirmed but all signs point in that direction.
