The great Chris Jericho rope break debate from Wrestle Kingdom 12 continues

Wrestle Kingdom 12 was pretty epic and featured an encounter between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega which really lived up to the hype. The aura of Chris Jericho performing in a ring owned by New Japan Pro Wrestling only added to the outstanding performances and storytelling which stole the show in a number of ways.

But one thing that still makes some fans scratch their heads is the fact that in this no disqualification match Chris Jericho let go of his Walls Of Jericho submission hold because of a rope break. After all, any incentive to let the move go in a no DQ match is gone if the referee can’t end the match via disqualification and hand the win to your opponent.

Apparently, this fact also stuck in the minds of both Chris Jericho and Christian as the host of The Peep Show said how he and the host of The Highlight Reel actually debated this topic during their brief reunion backstage at Raw 25.

“I was talking with Jericho because he put out a little tweet about how he had discussed the rope break in his no DQ match [at Wrestle Kingdom 12 against Kenny Omega]” Christian said on E & C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, “and he had put out a tweet explaining how it made sense because someone sent it to him on Twitter and he tagged E & C Pod on Twitter and when I saw him I looked at him and he started laughing and we started joking around and stuff and he said, ‘yeah, I saw it and it was acutally a legit good question so I answered it and I tagged you guys.’ I said, ‘yeah, I saw it.'”

“And we were joking around and we were both trying to discuss both sides of it like sitting there and [Chris Jericho] like, ‘between us we have 40 something years in the business and we’re sitting here debating on whether a rope break is legit or not,” Christian said.

So if you’re still sitting there with the opinion that Chris Jericho would have defeated Kenny Omega if it weren’t for that rope break, then you might have something there. Because apparently The Ayatollah Of Rock n Rolla and Captain Charisma had a good time debating it themselves.

This subject and so much more was also mentioned in the highlight video we did for the outstanding Wrestle Kingdom 12 battle of Alpha vs Omega which you can watch below.
