WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, have addressed the rumors that have been online since last month.
The IIconics beat Nia Jax & Tamina, Beth Phoenix & Natalya, and Sasha Banks & Bayley in Fatal 4-Way Match at the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.
As has been reported, Banks tried to get her release from the company and was upset that she and Bayley lost the tag team titles after such a short run as well as being split up from Bayley. Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin later reported that Banks and Bayley were loudly complaining while laying on the locker room floor and at the hotel after the show.
The IIconics spoke with Express Sport where they talked about these rumors. According to the tag team champions, they didn’t see anything unusual after the match and Banks and Bayley were supportive of them.
“Immediately after the match we were all in tears, all crying,” Royce said. “Just filled with emotion, we got pictures together which we then posted on our Instagram. I mean, I know there’s all these rumors going around and we didn’t see anything. Everyone was super happy and excited for us. The rumors to us is [that] we didn’t see anything that we’re hearing.
“Yeah, we don’t really pay attention to rumors or social media and all that kind of stuff in that aspect,” Kay said. “We had a great experience with them and it holds a really special place in our hearts. You can find them [pictures], we’re all embracing each other.”
For what it’s worth, the story from Satin was confirmed to him by multiple sources.
As of today, there is still no word on what Banks plans to do but she is still under contract with WWE and there are no signs pointing to them granting her release.
